Schroder started working at a very young age — think photo shoots at three months. He appeared in 60 commercials by the age of six. After making 'The Champ', he starred as rich kid Ricky Stratton in the sitcom 'Silver Spoons' from 1982 to 1986. His career slowed down afterward, but was ultimately revived, at least temporarily, with roles in 'Lonesome Dove', 'NYPD Blue', and '24'. His attempts to rebrand himself as Rick, not Ricky, were less successful.
