McKellar took a break from acting to get her BS degree in mathematics from UCLA. Since then, she's authored several books about math intended to encourage teenage girls to pursue it, such as 'Math Doesn't Suck' and 'Kiss My Math'. Since returning to acting, she's starred in a handful of movies for the Hallmark Channel and worked as a voice actress for animated series and video games.
