Kansas is in the center of America, and its state mammal is also the national mammal of the United States. Name this revered creature.
Answer Bison
The American Buffalo, or Bison, became the official state animal (and mammal) by the State Legislature of Kansas in 1955, almost 100 years after it became a U.S. state. The bison is also on the state flag of Kansas, and its official seal. It wasn't until 2016 that the bison became the national mammal of the U.S.
