In Hawaii, the "Ilio-holo-i-ka-uaua" or “dog that runs in rough water," is the state mammal. What kind of animal is it?
Answer Seal
The Hawaiian Monk Seal was designated the official mammal of the state in 2008. It's the only seal that's native to the islands, and one of only two mammals that are endemic to Hawaii. The other one is the hoary bat. The Hawaiian Monk Seal is one of the most endangered of all seals.
