In Australia, what animal is the rival of the Easter Bunny?
Answer Bilby
Rabbits are not native to Australia, they were brought over with the First Fleet of European settlers in the late 1700s. Since their introduction, they've been blamed as the single biggest factor in the loss of native Australian species thanks to competition of resources and land degradation. So, to rid Australia of any positive bunny propaganda, a movement has grown to replace the Easter Bunny with the Easter Bilby — one of Australia's native marsupials. Though the movement hasn't succeeded entirely yet, many Aussie candy companies do make chocolate Easter Bilbies for the season.
