The Ninth Amendment speaks to the "equal protection" of rights which are not specifically outlined in the Constitution. The Founders considered that future generations of Constitutionalists might argue that any right not listed in the Bill of Rights simply did not exist. They hoped to clear up that confusion with this amendment.
