What's the Big Deal About Southern Slang?
Southern slang is more than just a way of talkin' β it's a reflection of the rich history, culture, and hospitality of the Southern United States. From the rolling hills of the Appalachians to the sandy shores of the Gulf Coast, Southerners have a unique way of expressin' themselves that's both charming and confusing to outsiders.
Southern slang is peppered with colorful phrases like "over yonder," "hissy fit," and "catawampus." These expressions often have roots in the region's agricultural past, where farmers and ranchers needed quick and easy ways to describe things. Over time, these phrases became part of the Southern lexicon, passed down from generation to generation like a cherished family recipe.

Southern slang is a fascinating and important part of American culture, and our quiz is the perfect way to celebrate it. With challenging questions, plenty of humor and context, and a focus on education and entertainment, this quiz is sure to be a hit with Southerners and non-Southerners alike.

Enjoyed playing this game! I've lived in South Carolina for 75 years. I'm a born and bred True Southerner Katie Trueland
Born and raised in the south, so I remember hearing most of these sayings
Pretty well said
I'm not my Sister who is a Pure Southern Belle. But 56 of 57 not bad for a transplanted, 8th generation Southerner
This was a lot of fun, I was raised on the West Coast by Southerners and then I moved down south in my early twenties and these are words that I've heard and used my entire life. I still say all of these words today!
I have lived in the south all my life. No problem.
Strictly southern and interesting.

This was fun, I grew up in the south but now live in Iowa. I missed two of the questions just because I didn't read the answers closely enough!
From South W. Missouri. 57 out of 58. I knew them all but got ahead of myself & hit the wrong answer before I read it all the way through. Had the notion to give up but I got 'er done anyhow..
