Sultry voiced R&B singer Aaliyah (1979-2001) got her first break performing on the TV show Star Search at age 10. At age 12, she had a deal with Jive Records and released her double-platinum, R. Kelly-produced debut album, Age Ain't Nothing but a Number, at age 15. (Aaliyah was also 15 when she and Kelly secretly married - it was later annulled.) Her meteoric rise continued with two more double-platinum albums, a Grammy nomination and critical accolades. Aaliyah was killed in a tragic plane crash in the Bahamas after finishing the music video for Rock the Boat; she was 22 years old.
