French judge Marie-Reine Le Gougne broke down in tears when confronted about possible point-trading between the judges. She admitted that the president of the French Olympic federation had put pressure on her to give the gold to the Russian figure skating team in exchange for points being awarded to the French ice dancing team. When the scandal was brought to light, both the Russian pair and the slighted Canadian pair were given gold.
