Why is it important to keep a fire under control when in the jungle?
Answer If you lose control you could burn the jungle down.
Large fires are a waste of energy, often unnecessary, and a risk of forest fire. The popping embers as well as the radiant heat from a fire can ignite surrounding vegetation. The risk is greatest during strong winds. Dig a pit in the ground surrounded and contained by rocks, as a barrier, with a safe clearing around it void of dry vegetation. Keep a small fire that can be controlled and maintained easier.
