Who wrote the Star-Spangled Banner?
Answer Francis Scott Key
Baltimore lawyer Francis Scott Key spent one night of the Battle of Baltimore locked away in the belly of a British ship and was forced to watch as Fort McHenry sustained a constant barrage of bombardment. When the sun came up the next day, Key was inspired to write the Star-Spangled Banner by the sight of the fort's American flag flying proudly in defiance.
