Who said, “Lord, help my poor soul," as he lay dying in Baltimore?
Answer Edgar Allan Poe
It suits Edgar Allen Poe for his death to be cloaked in mystery. He was happened upon in ill-fitting clothes in October of 1849, only semiconscious, traipsing around Baltimore. As these clothes stood in such contrast to his regular attire, some believe his personal items had been stolen. It was also mysterious how he'd even arrived in the city, but he was taken to a hospital where he called out regularly for "Reynolds" – who that is, no one knows. One can only hope his last words, “Lord, help my poor soul,” were heeded.
