Who proposes to Margy at the end of the musical?

Just as Margy is feeling down about her trip to the fair, Pat Gilbert, a former World War II reporter, surprises everyone by showing up unannounced to the Frake farm. He apologizes to Margy for leaving early, explaining that he has accepted a job in Chicago and hopes she will move there with him. Pat then drops down to one knee and proposes to Margy, and (spoiler alert) she accepts!
