Who is this non-traditional classic film actor best known for his performances in White Christmas with Bing Crosby, The Court Jester with Glynis Johns, and both A Song is Born and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with Virginia Mayo?

Answer Danny Kaye

Known both for his golden voice and his adept footwork, Danny Kaye was a singer/dancer/actor and comedian, often combining all of the above in a single film. Kaye was not the traditional tall, dark and handsome leading man, and yet he took that role charmingly in all of his films, playing opposite such greats as Virginia Mayo, Vera Ellen, Gene Tierney, and Dana Wynter. Kaye was married to the same woman, Sylvia Fine, for over 40 years and she wrote most of his material. Kaye was a great chef and entertainer and had a custom-built Chinese restaurant in the back of his home with a kitchen and dining area around it. He was the only non-professional chef ever to earn the Les Meilleurs Ouvriers de France culinary award.
