Judy Holliday made most of her films in the characters of high-pitched dumb blondes who were actually mind-blowingly clever. She was an expert comedienne and was great at shifting her mood from silly to serious on a dime. She won a Tony Award for her performance in "Bells are Ringing" on Broadway which included a good deal of singing and dancing. Contrary to Holliday's on-screen persona, she was actually quite brilliant and had an IQ of 172. She won best actress in 1950.
