Who is the mayor of Gotham City in the 1960s Batman series?

Possibly based on John Lindsey, the mayor of New York City, Mayor Linseed led Gotham City throughout the run of the 1960s Batman series. Appearing in 10 episodes, Linseed notifies Commissioner Gordon of crimes the city needs Batman's help with. In one arc, Linseed went up against Penguin and Batman in a mayoral election, and though Batman won, he quickly resigned to give the seat back to Linseed.
