Who is often credited with the invention of the toilet?
Answer Thomas Crapper
Alas, some jokes are just too good to be true. Despite common belief, Thomas Crapper did not actually invent the bathroom throne (in fact, he was born a few centuries too late for that). But the 19th century inventor is still a contender for greatest plumber in history status. His many toilet-related patents include the ballcock (that floating thing in the tank). He also brought the previously taboo subject out into the open for the first time by displaying toilets in his bathroom showroom. And most impressively, he was plumber to the Queen.
