While some form of dirt bike racing was happening in the United States at the time, Edison Dye is credited with bringing the European style of the sport to America. During his years running a touring business in Europe, Dye became exposed to the more athletic style of racing known as scrambling. When he returned to the U.S. as a promoter for Husqvarna bikes, he encouraged Swedish riders to come with him and showcase their talents.
