Which U.S. president's torrid scandal involved a secret son?

The 19th century saw a sex scandal blow the roof off of the presidential election of 1884. Called "Grover the Good," the past caught up with previously pearly white Democratic candidate, Grover Cleveland, when it was discovered that he'd had a child out of wedlock a decade earlier, thereafter sending his son to an orphanage and committing the boy's mother to a mental institution. If you thought politics were petty today, you might think again after hearing the Republicans' frequent retort: “Ma, ma, where’s my pa?” Somehow, Cleveland still won the election by the skin of his teeth.
