It seems everyone's got beef with Korea. Two MORE countries led campaigns in Korea in the 19th century. Name them.
Answer United States and France
Korea was the target of foreign militaries again when the French and the U.S. each fired off campaigns against the country in the 19th century. In 1866, the six-week-long French Campaign was in retaliation for the execution of French Catholic missionaries. In 1871, the United States expedition to Korea was similarly publicized as a punitive campaign for the disappearance of a merchant ship on Korean waters, but some records show it was actually a military campaign intended to flex American power.
