Which historical empire is known for the aqueducts it constructed throughout its territories?

Answer Roman

One of the greatest engineering achievements of antiquity, Roman aqueducts brought clean water into cities and towns and carried sewage out. Hundreds of these monumental structures were built over five centuries beginning in 312 BC Many have collapsed or been destroyed, but a huge number of intact portions still exist - and a few are still in use! The Pont du Gard, pictured here, brought water to the Roman colony of Nemausus in southern France (now Nîmes).
