Which famous inventor went to work for Thomas Edison, only to become his rival?

Answer Nikola Tesla

Two of the world's greatest inventors in one room: Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison. How did it happen? Duncan Trussell tells the incredible tale, describing Tesla as "the electric Jesus". In reality, Tesla only briefly worked with Edison, when he came to the U.S. in 1884. But he sold his invention of AC machinery to Westinghouse, which annoyed Edison since he owned all the patents to Direct Current. Edison tried to blacklist Tesla and his AC but, needless to say, didn't succeed.
