Which beautiful brunette actress fled Czechoslovakia to take roles in such films as, "Come Live with Me" opposite Jimmy Stewart and, "My Favorite Spy" opposite Bob Hope, as well as helping to invent a radio guidance system for Allied torpedos, inducting her into the National Inventors Hall of Fame?

Answer Hedy Lamarr

Hedy Lamarr was born in Austria and after a few minor acting roles was married to Freidrich Mandl - 33-year-old Austrian military arms manufacturer, and third richest man in Austria. She was only 18. Through him, she was introduced to the field of applied sciences in which she excelled. Due to political difficulties, Lamarr left her husband and pursued a long and successful acting career in America. In later years, Lamarr learned that radio-controlled torpedoes could be jammed and collaborated to invent a device to do that. She also improved traffic stoplights and helped Howard Hughes develop a more streamlined shape for his airplanes.
