The quote from Fitzgerald's seminal novel, The Great Gatsby, was chosen by his daughter Scottie for the author's tombstone at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Maryland - 35 years after his death. His first gravesite was at a nearby cemetery, where his remains had ended up after St. Mary's refused his burial due to him not being a practicing Catholic. Decades later, they reconsidered, and Fitzgerald (as well as wife Zelda) was moved to the family plot at St. Mary's.
