Many of Jesus's original disciples were martyred. Which apostle is believed to have been killed by a halberd?

Answer Matthew

While there are conflicting versions of how Matthew died, most believe he was martyred, and some believe he was specifically martyred using a halberd. A halberd is a pike with an ax blade. This is accounted for in John Foxe's Book of Martyrs taken from a passage in Matthew that reads, "The scene of his labors was Parthia, and Ethiopia, in which latter country he suffered martyrdom, being slain with a halberd in the city of Nadabah, A.D. 60.”
