Where was the first settlement by Europeans in North America, established way back in 1565?

In 1565, Spanish explorer Don Pedro Menéndez de Avilés landed on the east coast of what's now Florida, jabbed the Spanish flag into the ground, and declared it for his country. He named the site in honor of St. Augustine, the patron saint of brewers.
