The McEwan’s brand was established by William McEwan in Edinburgh in 1856 and quickly became one of the most popular beer brands throughout the British Empire. At its peak, McEwan’s Fountain Brewery was the largest single-owned beer brewery in England, producing over 2 million barrels of beer annually. It is now owned by Marson’s through a joint venture with Carlsberg.
