Brahma is Brazil’s best-selling beer, produced since 1888 by Companhia Cervejaria Brahma. Throughout its history, the brand has attracted significant attention and scrutiny from religious activists pressuring the company to remove the name of the Hindu god Brahma from the beer’s name. However, the beer’s name actually pays an homage to Joseph Bramah who invented the draft pump valve.
