In the 1950s, Kuwait City embarked on a major infrastructure project: erecting water towers throughout the city to distribute the freshwater from their new seawater distillation plant. Thanks to the aesthetic vision of Kuwait's Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed, the towers turned out to be eye-catching works of art, instead of looking like concrete blocks that fell from the sky.
