Where does Mount Everest Sherpa rank compared to the most dangerous jobs in the U.S.?

How much more dangerous is being a Mount Everest Sherpa than being an American logger? Much, much, much more dangerous. Why would anyone do such a perilous job? Because climbing tourists (who face a 6.5% death rate themselves) keep showing up and keep paying. Most importantly, Sherpas earn about 10 times more than the average Nepalese worker.
