When Joshua divided up the land according to tribes, why didn't the Levites get an allotment of land?
Answer They were priests.
The Levites were priests and did not get an allotment of land because their greatest gift/service was to serve in the temple. They represented all of Israel before Lord, not just their tribe. Instead, they were given towns to live in, up to 48 of them.
