"We're settling in." When did the English first settle in Canada?
Answer 1610
After John Cabot mapped out Canada's east shores in the late 15th century, he claimed Newfoundland for England. But it wasn't until the early 17th century that English settlements were established at Cuppers Cove (now Cupid), Newfoundland. Cuppers was established in 1610, three years after Jamestown was established in Virginia.
