What was the name of the Greek mythological character that flew too close to the sun, despite warnings from his father?

Answer Icarus

In Greek mythology, Icarus was trying to flee Crete using wings built by Daedalus, his father. Daedalus cautions Icarus first of his carelessness, and then of his arrogance, warning him not to fly too low or too high. Icarus disregards Daedalus' warning not to fly too close to the sun, which melts the wax in his wings. He plummets from the sky, plunges into the water, and perishes. Lesson learned.
