During the 1950s, Janet Leigh appeared in serious films such as Safari and Orson Welles' film noir Touch of Evil. Her greatest achievement, however, came with the portrayal of Marion Crane in Hitchcock's unsettling thriller Psycho. Between 1984 and 2002, in addition to her profession as an actress, Leigh published four books, two of which were novels.
