If this sounds like a really bad idea, it's because it was. The 1974 ceremony pitted the winners in drama and comedy against each other to determine the performer of the year. The idea was a huge flop and was never done again. Congrats to Mary Tyler Moore, Cicely Tyson, and Alan Alda for being the ultimate acting champions of 1974, though.
