What was the name of the United States Navy’s first aircraft carrier?

The USS Langley became the U.S. Navy’s first aircraft carrier when she was converted from a collier to a fleet carrier in 1920. The USS Langley fought in World War II but was unfortunately damaged so badly during an attack in 1942 that the vessel was ultimately scuttled.
