What type of send is used for a monitor mix or effects unit when a channel's signal needs to be bussed somewhere other than the main output?

Sometimes called an effects or cue send, an aux send is a separate output signal obtained from an input channel on a console. The signal can be drawn from a pre- or post-fader, and the level of the send can be adjusted by a volume knob aside from the fader. All the channels that are sending signal to the aux will be bussed together before feeding either the console's internal signal processor or a physical output.
