What tow-haired actor brought a comic strip character to life in the 1959 television series 'Dennis the Menace'?

Answer Jay North

Jay North gained stardom with his role as the pint-sized troublemaker, but when the series ended, he struggled as an actor against typecasting. As he grew older, roles were few and far between. He starred in 1965's 'Zebra in the Kitchen' and in the 1966 film 'Maya'. In 1960, he voiced the character of Bamm-Bamm in the animated series 'The Flintstones'.
