If you ever come upon a ditch while off-roading, whether it's on a gravel road or in the woods, you first want to get out and assess the depth of the ditch. If you determine you can drive through it, you want to do so at an angle so only one tire at a time is in the hole. The others should remain on stable ground for traction.
