In addition to holding the consecutive games record at 2,632, Cal Ripken, Jr. is also the shortstop to hit the most home runs in MLB history. Ernie Banks previously held the record, but Ripken's total of 345 dingers took the title. Ripken was selected as the starting shortstop for the MLB's All-Century Team in 1999.
