The King Herods of the Bible weren't a great lot. Herod the Great killed all the babies. Herod Antipas killed John the Baptist. And King Herod Agrippa I had St. James put to death. Acts 12 reads, "It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword.” He also tried to kill Peter, but he escaped from prison with the grace of God.
