What is the term for that odd fold of mucous membrane located under the center portion of your tongue that anchors it in your mouth?
Answer Frenulum
The Lingual Frenulum is that web-like piece of skin that connects the tongue to the bottom of your mouth. Occasionally, a birth defect affecting the frenulum can occur, causing a condition called 'tongue-tie' in which the tongue's range of motion is limited. It can be repair with a quick surgical procedure.
