What is the name of the part that transforms the linear motion of the pistons into rotational force which is later used by the wheels?

Although it has a difficult name, the function of the crankshaft is pretty simple. It's connected to the pistons by the connecting rods, and rotated by the pistons with linear motion. The crankshaft then transmits this motion to the transmission, which moves the wheels.
