Washington Territory was born out of the Oregon Territory, leaving out Oregon. It existed between 1853 and 1889 and contained all of Washington and Idaho, and parts of Montana and Wyoming. By 1863 Washington Territory's borders matched its current borders, and it achieved statehood in 1889.
