The Sasanian Empire (also called Sassanian, Sasanid or Sassanid), reigned from 224 CE to 651 CE in the area around modern day Iran. At its height, the Sasanian Empire stretched from modern-day Turkey to Pakistan. Sassanid rule came to an end in 651 when it fell to the Rashidun Caliphate.
