What is the name for a reinforced joint where two pieces of a multi-part fishing rod join together?

Ferrules are used to connect rod segments together, and are commonly found on fly fishing and travel rods. They go inside the other rod segments and often twist together or are simply held be tension and friction to lengthen the rod and allow it to stay stable at its full size.
