What is the most common form of framing today?
Answer Platform
Platform framing was developed in the 1930s as the answer to the fire safety problem with Balloon framing. Lumber was cut to fit each floor separately and independently instead of using long pieces of wood to build the second story congruently with the first. Instead, the subsequent stories are built on top of the previous. This allowed the fire barrier to be inserted between floors easier.
