What is the chemical symbol for sodium?

Answer Na

Element 11, sodium, was discovered by Sir Humphry Davy in 1806. He used caustic soda in his experiments, so he named the new element sodium. In Germany, the word for caustic soda is "natronlauge," and in Latin it's "natrium." This lead to the chemical symbol Na being chosen.
