What is Ringo Starr's birth name?

Born in Liverpool as Richard Starkey, Ringo was called Ritchie by his mom. Following a bout of tuberculosis, he learned to play drums in a hospital band during his recovery. He was invited to join the band as a replacement drummer. Paul McCartney called him Richard, but the name Ringo stuck because he wore a lot of jewelry on his hands. Starr was just a shortened nickname for Starkey, used by his friends.
