Peter Lorre started his theater career in Vienna, before relocating to Germany in the late 1920s where he worked first n stage and subsequently in film. Lorre, who is of Jewish ancestry, fled Germany when Hitler came to power and went on to star in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew too Much. He eventually settled in Hollywood and starred in a number of Hollywood murder and mystery films.
